As a breastfeeding Momma, I have come to a point now, at 16 weeks, where I am confident, sure and have the routine down pat. However it wasn’t always like this. There can be some challenges when it comes to breast feeding. From the little questions like; Is my baby getting enough? How can I tell if I’m I producing the nutrients he needs?, How long do I do nurse for? Then there are the big questions, the legal questions (Under Federal Law women are permitted to nurse their baby anywhere) societal questions: Lets face it, everyone does not respect this issue or understand it completely and then there is Time Magazine misrepresenting breast feeding with a controversial picture on the cover. The important information I offer here is that there is an enriching and wonderful resource for all your questions and concerns – La Leche League International . LLLI is compiled of local moms, moms who have been there, or are there right now, along side you.
When I was struggling early on I went to the website and found the actual telephone number of a a local woman, a neighbor in fact who talked to me on the phone for over an hour. It was as if she and I had been friends forever. She provided me with all the information and more importantly support I needed at the time. There are also local monthly meet ups with other breast feeding mommas. LLLI is a great resource by wonderful like-minded moms. Its a relief to have support like that one phone call away.
If you need them, they are hereĀ http://www.llli.org/
